I was a really big reader (obvs) and practically devoured hundreds of books at school, reading in particular a great deal of George Orwell from P7 onwards. I was also extremely talkative and chatty (still am tbh), and was always getting told off for putting my classmates off their work (this comes up again and again in old school reports)!
What inspires you about the Super Power Agency?
It might sounds cheesy but I think you really can achieve anything you aspire to do, as long as you believe in yourself and your abilities, and work hard to realise your dreams. I believe that the Superpower Agency wants to share this message with as many young people as it can, inspiring them to achieve their dreams, and that is a really genuinely powerful thing.
What’s your favourite thing about Edinburgh?
I’ve always loved the dark, Gothic side to Edinburgh, with its graveyards and underworld with legends of murky and nefarious deeds. The author Robert Louis Stevenson might have set his novella The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in London, but it was undoubtedly his birthplace of Edinburgh that provided the book’s sinister inspiration!
The Super Power Agency is dedicated to supporting young people, aged 8-18, using a range of writing workshops, interdisciplinary creative programmes and a corps of volunteers. Our aim is to give students the support they need to close the attainment gap in education.
